Description

This is our primary annual fundraising event for Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation(PCCF).  First held in 2105, the success of the event directly led to the origin of the Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation.  This walk/run/ride event is family and pet-friendly event with a festival atmosphere.  It is scheduled the same time each year in Quakertown, PA. to coincide with a large outdoor juried arts festival held that same day just a few blocks away.  Participants choose from one of four events; 5k recreational walk open to families, children, and pets; a 5k timed run on a USATF-certified course; a 24 mile bike ride and a 42 mile bike ride with an optional hill climb.  There are event prizes, entertainment, games, raffles , mascots, chalk art, etc., all contributing to a family-friendly festival vibe.  Prior to the start of each event , comments are made to the assembled participants by both a PCCF representative and representatives of one or more of the institutions receiving funding.  This helps to create an awareness of the disease and inherent critical funding needs and shares with donors how their generosity is impactfully used.

Participants have the ability to create teams, and many teams return annually.  Notably, the Swain School Sprinters return with a large contingent each year, and also conduct additional fundraising at their school.

As the primary annual fundaising event, the event is critically important to sustaing and grow the mission of PCCF.  The funds raised consitute the direct benefit. Indirect benefits include the inherent education and awareness aspect of the criticality of the disease and need for funding through event literature and communications, and it also helps build our list of contacts and social media footprint to further communicate our mission and the important aspects surrounding the disease, funding needs and the direct impacts of our funding.
