An Evening of Storytelling with Artists Jaime Arredondo and Dominique Fleming
Gala/Party for Friends of the Irving MuseumsOct 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
This year, on October 28th, we are hosting our annual fundraiser, "An Evening of Storytelling with Artists Jaime Arredondo and Dominique Avila Fleming." This event will showcase Latin American culture and cuisine through Ballet Folklorico performances, Guatemalan poetry readings, an Indigenous Artist Talk, and an exciting raffle. The funds raised from this event will directly support our mission to provide educational and cultural opportunities to the community.
Our organization focuses on providing essential support to several cultural institutions, including the Irving Archives & Museum, Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center, Ruth Paine House Museum, and the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum. These institutions play a vital role in preserving our local history and engaging our community in educational and creative experiences. One of our primary objectives is to make these cultural resources accessible to everyone, especially school-aged children. We achieve this by providing scholarships for tours and field trips, supporting the creation of exhibitions that both educate and entertain, and offering a safe space for our community to explore diverse voices and perspectives. Thanks to our efforts, the Irving Archives & Museum is able to offer free admission every second Saturday and every Sunday. This initiative removes financial barriers for some members of our community, ensuring that the exhibits and STEM Spark!Lab are accessible to all.
