While having an “ace” in your hand is usually a good thing, child victims who grow up with untreated trauma can have a very different kind of ace in hand.

ACEs stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences. ACEs have a tremendous impact on the trajectory of a person’s life.

ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, substance use problems, and increase the likelihood of future victimization and violence. ACEs can also negatively impact education, job opportunities, and earning potential in adulthood.

However, ACEs can be prevented and mitigated.

This year, while we are addressing the negative impact of a global pandemic on our most vulnerable children, we are also forced to rework our budget. Latest legislation has decreased our funding by 35%, making this year more important than ever to be ALL IN for the children of Sussex County.

Ginnie’s House is here to prevent and heal the “bad hand” that some children have been dealt.
