Description

HASC-Woodmere is a non-profit, special educational program that provides a safe and stimulating learning environment for very young children with learning disabilities and/or developmental delays.  These childrne receive both educational and theraptueic services in our Woodmere facility at no expense to the parents.  Our goal for each child is to have him/her develop to the maximum potential possible and to be able to function in the mainstream of society.

Our Annual Family Picnic is our largest fundraising event of the school year.  This event is an opportunity for our young students and their families to enjoy a social afternoon together playing on our playground, enjoying entertainment by a clown and a petting farm, eating picnic lunch together, and enjoying spending time with friends, classmates, and staff members.  We expect between 300-350 participants to our event.  Our event will take place on June 9, 2024.  The picnic also provides opportunity for our parents to bid on silent auction items and to purchase raffle tickets for several large "theme baskets" containing items donated to the school.  Through this fundraising effort, our school is able to provide trips, in-school entertaininemt, and special events for our students.  Fundraising from our picnic also allows us to make special purchases for our school, such as playground equipment, classroom and therapy toys, and other specialized equipment to enhance the educational and therapeutic experience for our students.

So often families of young children with special needs struggle to find activities and experiences that are appropriate for their special needs child.  Our school is seen as an oasis for these families in a world where they somtimes don't feel like they fit in.  We are proud of our special skills and proud of the amazing work we do for our young students and families.
