Annual Fundraising Auction
Gala/Party for Alameda AikikaiNov 09, 2024 6:00 PM to Dec 14, 2024 8:00 PM
Alameda Aikikai is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that wants to change the world through the study of Aikido. Our mission is to foster the harmony of the entire individual (mind, body, and emotions) through the disciplines of Aikido, zen, weapons, and Iaido. These traditional Japanese arts are a "Do" (or "Tao" in Chinese), a Way, through which one strives to reveal the true self. By bringing this true self forward, one is transformed, and so is the world.
We provide a sanctuary in Alameda where individuals from all backgrounds may develop themselves through training in the above arts. We promote understanding of these traditional Japanese arts, as well as other Japanese cultural activities.
Alameda Aikikai does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, or national origin.
Our annual fundraiser is a seminar with the founding instructor who currently resides in Scotland and brings together the west coast from Washington down to southern California to train together in Aikido. This also is the time we provide our annual fundraising auction to help with daily upkeep, maintain low membership dues and hopefully move to a sliding scale and gives us the opportunity to provide need based scholarships to both children and adults ages 4-71 currently who do not have funds to train. Our auction consists of some silent items for this day but many that end on the date of our holiday party where families come together to eat and celebrate the year behind and the year ahead.
