Funds raised through the tournament support Another Way's Safety-Net and Health and Wellness Services Program that serves more than 1500 indivdiuals each year.
Most of our clients are:
Living in poverty;
Have one parent unable to work because they care for a disabled child or adult;
Have an aging care-giver
Challenged by a lack of transportation;
Challenged by a low education level;
Willing to work but lack employment opportunities.
The tournament kicks off with a mixer the night before where our sponsors have the opportunity to meet one another and enjoy the scenic JW Marriott before the competition gets started. The day of the tournament there are prize holes, putting competitions, tournament champions and delicious food. After the tournament Another Way hosts an awards and sponsor recognition luncheon. Here we are able to share the stories of those we help as we thank all those who make it possible. All sponsors and gift-in-kind donors are acknowledged in Another Way’s sponsorship recognition booklet. On average the Another Way Golf Tournamen raises $150,000. Our raffle typically generates $11,200.
About Another Way: Another Way was founded in 1986 by a group of dedicated Inland Regional Center employees. This determined and caring group of individuals became frustrated and concerned as they witnessed some of their most vulnerable clients struggling to pay for the basics. In response, employees mobilized, formed a committee, called themselves Another Way and began to give willingly of their time and resources. Staff envisioned the program acting as a safety net for families in crisis and as a resource to families in need. With hard work this vision became reality and for the last 33 years children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have received monetary support from Another Way to help pay for rent, utilities, food, clothing, mobility equipment, medications, dental work, burials, and other such necessities. Another Way remains the only employee-sponsored program among the state’s 21 Regional Centers and operates with one paid full-time staff and an Advisory Committee.
