Description

Children’s Law Center of California is hosting our annual Art of Advocacy Gala on Thursday, October 24th, in Los Angeles. We will gather to celebrate the accomplishments of our dedicated staff and our partners who make our work possible. Most importantly, we will raise vital funding for the children and youth we serve in the Los Angeles County foster care system. It will be a beautiful eating in which we share stories and learnings from our work, acknowledge honorees who have gone above and beyond for our cause, and enjoy a lively raffle, auction, and live ask for attendees to donate.

We are a nonprofit organization who provides legal representation for all children and youth ages 0-21 in foster care in Los Angeles, Sacrament and Placer Counties. There are currently over 20,000 foster youth in our care. Importantly, our clients are disproportionately children of color. Because foster youth often experience many additional hardships and challenges, CLC has developed numerous specialized programs targeting common issues including education; mental health; substance use; housing; immigration; juvenile justice; sexual and reproductive health; child sexual exploitation; and early pregnancy and parenting.

100% of donations will go directly to our clients, wherever the need is greatest—this can be tangible essential items, like shoes, eyeglasses, and toiletries; access to activities, such as summer camp, sports team fees, jerseys and cleats, or art classes; parenting support, such as baby formula, diapers, and a crib; or critical housing support, such as first and last months’ rent, security deposit, move-in fees, and essential home furnishings. Donations can also be used to support our specialized programming including services for victims of commercial sex trafficking, those struggling with mental health or substance use, and extreme efforts to find distant relatives for children with no family around to love them.
