Assistance League Seattle Luncheon Auction at the Sunset ClubGala/Party for Assistance League of Seattle
Dec 07, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Assistance League of Seattle helps disadvantaged students in our city envision better futures for themselves with programs designed to build confidence, inspiration, and opportunity. These programs, funded by money raised at our annual auction, bring meaningful change to thousands of Seattle schoolchildren and young adults every year. Here’s a brief overview:
This year, our annual auction will take place December 7th, 2019 at The Sunset Club in Seattle. This is our primary fundraiser of the year, so your donation is key to our success. With an anticipated guest list of 200, our members and guests range in age from young professionals to senior citizens—all whom reside in the greater Seattle metropolitan area—so as a donor, you will enjoy a great level of exposure. In addition to the event auction, there will be an online auction from November 18 - December 22.
An overview of the programs the funds raised at the auction will support:
Operation School Bell: Building confidence
It’s a startling fact that there are over 4,000 homeless children in the Seattle area. When a family cannot afford to cover the basic needs, it’s hard for a child to get by in school, let alone succeed. Operation School Bell gives disadvantaged elementary school students an opportunity to shop for brand new clothes and shoes. But they get more than a wardrobe—they get a boost of confidence that helps them reach new potentialities. Last year, our Operation School Bell program provided brand new clothing for over 3,100 students.
Enrichment Scholarships: Offering inspiration
Sometimes, gaining a new skill or being exposed to a new realm of education can change the trajectory of a young person’s life. With Enrichment Scholarships, qualified teens can attend the summer camp of their choice, exploring new interests and gaining new skills in leadership, outdoor survival, music, art, computer science, or journalism, and more. 55 Students were granted summer camp scholarships last year through or Enrichment Scholarship program.
Financial Aid for Education: Providing opportunity
For those pursuing the long-term goal of a college education while struggling with the financial realities of everyday life, the road to a degree can be an uphill climb fraught with obstacles. With Financial Aid for Education, we provide scholarships to adults facing economic hardship who are enrolled in King County public colleges or vocational schools. With fewer barriers, students can better focus on the bright horizon ahead. Our Financial Aid for Education program supported 28 adult students last year.
