Description

The Averill Park Wrestling Association was created to help the families in the community of the Averill Park School District and surrounding areas.  We raise funds for youth in grades K-12 so that they can participate in wrestling.  Our youth program features K-2 and 3-8 programs.  Each participant receives a USA wrestling card (insurance) and a personalized t-shirts and shorts.  Our HS program contributes to male and female wrestlers by offsetting the many costs families face when playing on the school team.  The teams travel and the cost of charter bus (which is mandated by our school district- for trips over 100 mi), hotel rooms, and food, falls predominatley on the families.  The team has had several athletes qualify for the national wrestling championship in Fargo, ND and that trip is quite expensive as well.  The APWA donates money to make the cost of the youth program affordable.  We offer family discounts and if a family cannot afford to participate, we cover the entire cost.  We help reduce the costs associated with travel expenses for the older athletes and have even purchased wrestling shoes for kids in need.  If a family in our organization suffers any type of losss, we immediatly are there to donate time and money to them so they can get back on their feet.  Our wrestlers donate time for local organizations as well to improve community relations and to give back.  This year, we serve approximatley 100 wrestlers for a total of about 90 families in our small semi-rural community.

We will be holding our annual Bingo fundraiser this coming January.  Participants will be playing bingo for designer purses, but the most excitement for many is our raffles.  Participants purchases chances and place their tickets into the item they would like to win and one winner is picked at random per prize.  We are seeking donations for our raffles, either items or gift certificates.  Anything donated would be much appreciated!
