Description
POE hosts an Awards Night BBQ for the 39 new scholars admitted to our program. The event is a casual outdoor BBQ that celebrates the new students admiited into our program who will be starting college in the Fall of 2023. A few POE alumni also attend to speak and offer advice to the new students. The rest of the attendees are Mentors to the students. We do not do any fundraising at this event as it is a celebration of the new students. It would be great to have some prizes for the graduates who come to speak and maybe some giveaways for all the new college students. These are all first-generation low-income college students - most have had to work during high school to help support their families.
