Description

Help us 'bury the hatchet' on the mental health stigma for Veterans and First Responders as we raise money for our 2025 trauma counseling retreats. Join us for a fun, casual (and probably a little bit competitive) evening as we throw some axes, bid on silent auction items, raffle off some great prizes and support our Nation's heroes who sacrifice so much to keep us all safe.

Founded in 2014, Deep Sea Valkyries provides clinical counseling retreats to Veterans and First Responders. Deep Sea Valkyries' week long intensive retreats pair a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based curriculum specifically designed for DSV to include recreational activities and daily devotions. Daily devotions reflect on moral injury, reconciling the violence experienced during a participant's time in service. Scuba Diving provides physiological benefits to participants and transcends any disability or limitation so participants can fully engage in the program. Widely recognized in the mental health community and recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA), CBT is the most effective treatment for PTSD. Efficacy reporting utilizing the DSM-IV PCL and QoL trauma assessments pre- and post-retreat illustrate the success of the program.
