Description

We plan to hold a Kickoff to Summer Raffle/Giveaway to help raise funds for our Early Education Program. The plan is to sell tickets for 3-4 weeks via an online platform with the drawing taking place on Monday, June 12, 2023, and the winners being notified the same day. All money raised will help us towards our program goals.

Some of the goals we have for our program are:

·Setting up a S.T.E.M. education room that can be utilized by all of our classrooms/children.

·Updating educational materials within our current classrooms to enhance our curriculum.

· Purchase new materials to be able to open more classrooms and serve more families in the greater Bangor area.

· Adding a musical instrument area to our outside areas

· Adding outside gardening areas for classroom to use during Spring/Summer

· Adding a group gathering area outside for classrooms to utilize.

· Replacing exercise mats in our indoor gross motor room so we can utilize it more for all ages when conditions prevent us from going outside.

· Providing more opportunities for family outings where we can share information with families about their child’s early development and education.

Bangor Children’s Home d.b.a Hilltop School is an Early Childhood Education Facility serving children ages 18 months through Pre-K. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and have been doing early education since 1975.  Hilltop School, through the use of developmentally appropriate activities, provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children can develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively and where relationships are formed with other children and a network of caring adults.  Our goal at Hilltop is to provide an environment filled with opportunities for children to explore and learn through fun, hands on activities.  Utilizing the Early Childhood Learning Standards, teachers identify each child's individual needs and abilities and then plan activities based on these observations.  We believe children learn best when they are interested in what they are doing, have readily available adult support and are involved in hands on activities that relate to what they already know.

Prior to becoming Hilltop School in the early 1970’s, Bangor Children’s Home operated as an Orphanage for young boys and girls. Our current building was built in 1869 in memory of a woman named Sarah Pitcher with the requirement that this building would always be used to serve children and families in our community and surrounding areas in some capacity. We were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, the same year that we also began our early education program.

Thank you in advance for your time reviewing and consideration of our request. It is truly appreciated.
