We are reaching out from MS104, Simon Baruch Middle School, a highly regarded Middle School
located on 21st and 1st Avenue which serves over 900 students in grades 6-8 from Midtown to the
Battery. At MS104 we believe all students can achieve their best when provided with a safe and
supportive learning environment combined with appropriate levels of academic challenge. This
scaffolding approach enables MS104 to consistently graduate students who go on to perform
successfully in NYC’s most elite high schools.
MS104 is a richly diverse community – socially, economically, and racially. Over 50% of our student
population qualifies for free or reduced lunch which means those families fall below the poverty
line. Unfortunately, due to the significant budget cuts over the past few years, the NYC Department
of Education funding does not fully fund MS104, and the onus is on the community leaders to find
ways to fund the balance of our school’s budget.
To help bridge the gap with funding, we are excited to announce our annual auction event taking
place April 3rd, 2024. Proceeds from this event will go toward the following areas:
• Visual Arts & Film
• Science
• Technology
• Professional development for teaching staff
• Supplies for students
The buckets listed above critically depend on support generated from this auction. We expect
attendance of the live auction, in-person event to be more than 300 people and the silent online
auction will have a far greater reach and be sent out through our community to family and friends
near and far. Please consider donating to this extraordinary event and helping the kids of MS104
achieve success.
