Description

Bridge Breast Network (BBN) was founded in 1992 by Breast Surgeon Dr. Sally Knox and a group of breast cancer survivors. Dr. Knox often donated her services to uninsured patients (referred to her practice by colleagues) who lacked the resources and insurance coverage for breast cancer treatment; but funds were needed to cover the costs for facilities, labs, imaging and oncology services. The breast cancer survivors got involved and formed a nonprofit 501(c) (3) The Bridge Breast Center. The name was later changed to The Bridge Breast Network to better represent our reach and expanded medical network. In our 30-year history, BBN has touched the lives of over 200,000 women in North Texas with breast health education and/or medical services. Our patient navigators, case managers, 300 medical providers and 200 community partners work hand-in-hand to provide a continuum of care from early detection through breast cancer treatment to reduce the incidents of late-stage diagnosis and increase survival. Our comprehensive program includes breast health education, early detection and prevention services, diagnostic and clinical evaluations, biopsies, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation oncology, and survivorship services to those who otherwise could not afford and/or receive these services. BBN clients are mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and friends.  But more importantly, they are the working poor (77.5%) trying to make ends meet and live the American Dream.
