I work for Great Lakes Academy Charter School, a non-profit, high performing K-8 charter school on Chicago's south east side. The student body at GLA is comprised of 100% minority students, 87% of whom come from low income households. Last year, the school was given a 1+ rating by Chicago Public Schools (the highest of any on the south side) and was also voted one of the top 5 charter schools in Chicago.

On May 19th, 2021, we're hosting a benefit for the school at Galleria Marchetti, where we will have a silent auction. All proceeds raised from the auction portion will directly fund opportunities for the students including educational field trips, art and music classes, and classroom libraries. In fact, because of the success of our benefit last year, we were able to endow a music teacher position for the school!

We are expecting over 350 people at our event from all over Chicago and the Northern Suburbs and I know a donation from you would be a huge hit! We hope to raise in excess of $300,000 to both account for the shortfall of the budget provided to GLA by Chicago Public Schools, as well as increase access to resources for the students. Finally, because of our 501(c)(3) status, all donations are entirely tax deductible.
