WHAT IS THE TALL GRASS ARTS ASSOCIATION?

The mission of the Tall Grass Arts Association is “to promote public education and appreciation of the arts; to encourage artists; and to support high quality art through exhibitions, sales, classes and special programs available to the public of all ages.”

To that end, Tall Grass Arts Association:

operates a gallery that exhibits regional, national and international artists.  More than 1,300 people attended gallery openings and another 2,000+ visited the gallery exhibits.

operates a school that offers classes to children and adults and fundraises to provide scholarships to low-income students.

hosts a juried art fair that attracts artists from throughout the United States. Approximately 2,000 – 3,000 people attend the Park Forest Art Fair.

serves the South Suburban region, with artists and members from Dyer, Indiana on the east, Kankakee on the south, Joliet on the west and the City of Chicago on the north.

HOW IS TALL GRASS ARTS ASSOCIATION FUNDED?

Tall Grass Arts Association is a not-for-profit organization operated by a volunteer Board of Directors.  It operates with a part-time Administrative Director, School Director and many unpaid volunteers.  It derives its funding from individual and corporate memberships, program sponsorship, public and private grants, income-producing programs such as the Beaux Arts Ball, classes, the art fair and gallery sales.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT TALL GRASS?

A sign on the outside wall of a gallery in Prague proclaims, “If a nation’s culture survives, so, too, does the nation.”  The same can be said of a region.  Tall Grass is the visual arts organization in the region dedicated to keeping the arts alive.  Its long-term success enriches our communities, adding value to our homes, our neighborhoods and our lives.
