Help make a difference in the lives of area Type 1 diabetes patients

 "I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes eight years ago, but this doesn't stop me. I play volleyball and I'm a dancer on our high school dance team. Managing this condition isn't easy and it costs a lot of money. We need to buy many medical items including insulin and we have to make regular trips every three months to the cities for my ongoing appointments because we don't have any specialists in our area who can treat kids with diabetes. With the help of the money raised from Because of Brandon, we have been lucky to receive gas cards and gift cards for a meal while we are there to help make our trips to my appointments less expensive for my parents." - Addison, 14, Pequot Lakes

The sixth annual Because of Brandon fundraiser for diabetes education and awareness in memory of Brandon Houge will be held on Friday, April 21 at the Hudson in Ironton. All proceeds benefit Brandon's Wallet which helps families pay for medications, equipment, treatment, travel expenses for families traveling to the Twin Cities to meet with a pediatric endocrinologist, and scholarships for area youth to attend Camp Needlepoint.
