Dystonia is a rare, brain disorder that causes extreme muscle spasms so intense they produce involuntary movements and postures of the body and limbs. Children and adults with dystonia struggle against the power of their own bodies to walk, speak, pick up a glass, or simply sit upright. As one individual affected by dystonia explained, “Dystonia is not fatal, but it takes your life away.” In April 2023, the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) will host Bid it Up for Dystonia, a week-long nationwide online auction to raise awareness and funds for research. 

DMRF is the oldest, most established dystonia patient organization in the world, providing services annually for individuals and families impacted by all forms of dystonia. Bid It Up for Dystonia will be promoted in our magazine (55,000), email blasts (22,000) and social media posts that inform the public about dystonia leading to more accurate diagnosis and a better path to treatment and improved patient quality of life for those struggling with dystonia. This inaugural event is a wonderful opportunity for you to demonstrate your leadership in helping those who are living in isolation and to bring awareness to a cause that is often overlooked.
