Columbus Volunteer Fire Department has teamed up with The Columbus Lions Club to provide a Hamburger Supper Fundraiser and Live Auction to raise funds for the son of one of our firefighters, Brett Vasek.

At 15 months old, Brett Vasek Jr was diagnosed with a rare chronic kidney disease known as Nephrotic Syndrome. This kidney disease has resulted in many hospital stays over the years, as well as multiple infusions such as chemo type medications, with the hopes that eventually his body would respond and his kidneys would function properly.

BJ was diagnosed with Covid-19 in July 2021. After recoving from Covid-19 fairly well, BJ then developed Pneumonia. After 3 hospitalizations during the month of August alone, and a 4th visit in September, it was determined that BJ developed another disease known as Multisystem Inflamatory Syndrome in Children...AKA: MIS-C. At this time, we are unsure how long MIS-C will last, the effects of this disease, as well as the full course of treatment. Being immunocompromised, treatment and recovery this far has been extensive.
