The Bonner Springs City Library's 2024 Summer Reading Program (SRP) called Adventure Awaits at your Library begins on June 1st, 2024. Due to our unique geographic location in the greater Kansas City area, we serve patrons in 3 different counties: Wyandotte, Leavenworth and northwest Johnson.

Each year the Bonner Springs City Library aims to increase youth participation in the SRP by offering awesome prizes to participants who meet our reading challenges throughout the summer months. Studies have found that students who participate in library summer reading programs experience less of a learning deficit due to the ‘summer slide’ created by a two-month break from school. The goal to ignite a passion for reading in today’s impressionable youth can only transpire through the generous donations given to us by our community leaders and key businesses. The city library’s ability to motivate kids and teens to read during the summer is directly tied to the prizes and incentives we are able to offer them. Summer Reading runs for 8 weeks beginning on Saturday, June 1st. The majority of prizes we recieve will be awarded to our winning participants at the End of Summer Reading Party on July 27th, 2024, but smaller prizes may be awarded throughout the summer to various contest winners.
