Boot Scootin' Benefit
Gala/Party for Sande School of HorsemanshipJun 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Sande's annual Boot Scootin' Benefit is a night filled with live music and dancing, a mechanical bull, catered dinner, silent and live auction and more! This family friendly event is more like a party than a fundraiser, and everyone has a good time!
Sande School of Horsemanship was founded in 2010 with a mission to provide accessible equine programs focusing on life skill development for all individuals, including at-risk youth and people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to Spring Client Data, 55% of Sande students experience anxiety or depression; 26% have a diagnosed mental or behavioral health disorder, and 32% have experienced childhood trauma. Clients reported an overwhelmingly positive effect on their lives due to participation in Sande programs. According to the survey:
97% reported increased confidence
49% reported improved communication skills
74% reported an improvement in their overall mood.
Columbia County needs more mental health programs and activities for residents with disabilities. Our county does not offer Special Olympics and has just one mental health provider for every 2,083 residents as compared to one for every 313 residents in Multnomah County.
With the help of the community we are working to expand our facilities, mental health programs, and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All proceeds from the Boot Scootin’ Benefit will support the expansion of Equine Assisted Mental Health and Therapeutic Riding Programming.
