Description

The Lincoln Park American Association of Zoo Keepers is seeking businesses and individuals interested in partnering with our organization for our annual Bowling for Rhinos event, taking place in September in Chicago. This family-friendly conservation fundraiser is hosted by over 80 AAZK chapters in the US and Canada each year, and over $9 million has been raised since its inception in 1990. 100% of the proceeds go to three conservation organizations in Africa and Asia, helping to protect critically endangered rhinos and the countless other species of plants and animals that share their habitats.

Rhinos are on the brink of extinction, mainly due to poaching. Just 100 years ago there were over 500,000 of these gentle giants and today there are less than 30,000. There is a huge demand for rhino horn in some countries, mainly for rumored medicinal properties or as a status symbol, and in the last ten years 9,396 rhinos were lost to poaching in Africa. On average, one rhino is poached every 16 hours in Africa. But it is not just rhinos that are being affected by poaching, habitat destruction and other threats. Elephants, tigers, orangutans, and many other species in Africa and Asia are hanging on by a thread, and Bowling for Rhinos is our chance to make an impact in ensuring their survival. The three conservation organizations supported by Bowling for Rhinos focus on community education, habitat preservation, and security to give rhinos and other animals the chance that they need to thrive in their natural environments. These organizations have faced many challenges due to the pandemic, and our support is needed now more than ever.

We would be delighted to have you represent your business and share in our mission of wildlife conservation to preserve these animals and their habitats for future generations. We hope that you will support this event in a way that suits you best: by contributing a monetary donation, by donating an item for our raffle or silent auction. Your donations are tax deductible, as Lincoln Park AAZK is a recognized 501(c)3 organization (EIN 36-3726922).
