Bowling for Rhinos
Other Event Type for American Association of Zoo Keepers/ San Antonio ZooAug 02, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Bowling for Rhinos is a large fundraising event to raise money to support the conservation of the last five species of rhino, as well as the other animals that share habitats with them, such as elephants, tigers, tapirs, bears, cheetahs, numerous birds and more. The money raised will go directly to the following organizations in Asia and Africa: the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, which works as a catalyst for community-based conservation of wildlife and its habitat; Action for Cheetahs also in Kenya, a conservation organization that helps humans and cheetahs coexist in the same area; Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, home to the last 76 Javan rhinos in the world; and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park and Way Kambas National Parks in Indonesia, home to the remaining Sumatran rhinos.
The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) expresses its concern over the plight of the rhino by taking action. Since 1990, more than $9,000,000 has been collected nationally and distributed between the five conservation parks. In 2024, the San Antonio AAZK Chapter raised $10,000 towards the national total of $303,997.16, and our goal is to exceed that amount this year. In addition to a bowling event, we also host a silent auction and raffle table. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need community support to bring it to life!
Remember: ENDANGERED means there’s still time, EXTINCTION is forever.
