Breaking Barriers is Disability Rights Washington's (DRW) annual fundraiser supporting the work we do. DRW provides people with disabilities information about their rights, trains storytellers and advocates, provides a platform for authentic accessible stories by people with disabilities, and provides trainings and resources for creating accessible social media and videos. We work to change systems to make our communities more accessible and inclusive, reduce abuse and neglect, improve access to health care, and most importantly, follow the leadership of lived experience. DRW also has been working to mitigate the adverse effects of COVID-19 on Washington's disability community including advocating for access to education and to life-saving health care treatment and vaccines. 

We will be holding Breaking Barriers on Thursday, October 21, 2021, virtually. Last year was a huge success, with almost 800 views and more than $84,000 raised. Items for the fundraiser will be used for a silent auction or opportunity drawing. This year, we hope to expand our audience further. We look forward to the increased opportunities to expand viewership across Washington state.
