Kristi House is dedicated to eradicating child abuse and child sex trafficking - working nationally on solutions, and locally to heal child-victims.

Operating the only Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) in Miami-Dade County, Kristi House is responsible for coordinating child-victims’ legal, medical, and social services needs. Founded in 1995 as a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, Kristi House provides an integrated solution for families navigating the complex services involved in the healing process. The Center is nationally recognized for its evidence-based, therapeutic expertise in treating child trauma.

In addition to coordinating a team of partners involved in child abuse cases, Kristi House has the expertise to treat children overcoming several forms of abuse and trauma. While child sexual abuse has been Kristi House's specialty since founding, its mental health unit has the proven treatment interventions for many types of childhood trauma including problematic sexual behavior, physical abuse, and substance abuse combined with trauma. Kristi House is one of very few agencies in Miami-Dade County providing specialized mental health services for child trauma regardless of families' ability to pay. Because untreated child trauma often manifests itself in health, sexual, and social problems throughout life, it is vitally important that Kristi House provides abused children with mental health services.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 in Miami, we are now planning to go virtual for our luncheon on Thursday, October 28th. We need your support more than ever to ensure this change does not impact our critical services for child victims of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.

We have seen a sharp increase in children needing services as a result of sexual abuse and other trauma. Despite the pandemic, last year Kristi House served more victims — 1,940 children and their families — a growing number over all previous years. Many children we see are being solicited and groomed by online predators while using their phones and devices in what parents thought was the safety of their homes. The statistics are frightening: 1 in 5 children will be solicited for sex or explicit photos from an online "friend."

Our annual luncheon is imperative to sustaining our budget so we can help children heal from their abuse trauma.
