Description

One of Southern California’s most popular and unique fundraising events, Musical Theatre West’s Broadway in the Park, returns to The Grand on Sunday, August 28, 2022. This festive annual gala provides an opportunity for more than 500 attendees to be wined and dined while getting a sneak peak at shows from our upcoming season. Guests will also have the chance to show their support for our organization by bidding in both live and silent auctions. That’s where you come in!

Can you donate an item, experience, or gift certificate to help us reach our fundraising goals? Nearly 50% of the proceeds from this event are raised through our auctions, so we are counting on the support of our friends and neighbors in the local business community. Your generosity will be prominently acknowledged in the program as well as in our auction catalogue, and you will receive a receipt acknowledging the tax-deductible value of all in-kind donations, along with our gratitude.

We have a fundraising goal of $200,000. Proceeds from Broadway in the Park are used to fund multiple programs, particularly in Education-Outreach. In the past few years, our Education-Outreach department has responded to unprecedented challenges by finding new and innovative ways to keep kids engaged, creating virtual content that can now be used by teachers in perpetuity. We are thrilled to announce that we have recently been able to resume almost all of our in-person programs, including Master Classes, Student Matinees, and the Summer Youth Conservatory. We also have two educational touring productions currently in development.

MTW is proud to be celebrating our 70th season as an integral part of the Southern California/Long Beach arts community, where we now serve over 60,000 patrons from more than 100 Southern California communities. We look forward to continuing to produce Broadway quality musicals for people of all ages and back-grounds to enjoy for years to come. We greatly appreciate your consideration of our request. Every dollar helps us bring the best of Broadway to Long Beach – and we couldn’t do it without you! All of us at Musical Theatre West and the thousands of children who will benefit from your generosity join in giving you our thanks.
