Other Event Type for Desi Dance Network IncorporatedJan 23, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Buckeye Mela is a weekend celebrating South Asian culture organized by the Indian American Association, the Indian Students Association at The Ohio State University, and Desi Dance Network Inc. with sports tournaments, the block party, and Srujan, the intercollegiate South Asian dance competition. It is also a philanthropic event that raises thousands of dollars for charity every year.
Taking place the evening of January 23, 2016, Srujan at Buckeye Mela is one of the biggest intercollegiate South Asian dance competitions in the nation. Srujan is a 16 team, intercollegiate dance showcase that features the traditional folk dance style of Bhangra, as well as the more mordern style of Bollywood Fusion. Srujan aims to forge new ties among universities and South Asian communities while raising money charity. Being held at the Mershon Auditorium (2500), the showcase attracts not only an audience from the Ohio State University, but also audiences from the surrounding midwest states. In its ninth year, Srujan has sold out venues and continuously invigorates and inspires thousands of people. Although Srujan is a one weekend event, our organization operates year round to ensure we are continuously promoting South Asian culture.
