Each year our club holds a fundraising event we call Building a Better Community (BBC). This event is one of our major fundraisers and helps generate funds for the children's programs and scholarships we support in Palo Alto and surrounding communities. Each year we donate more than $100,000 to local non-profits and for student scholarships and also leverage our donations with about 3000 hours of hands-on service projects. The event is held at the Palo Alto Lawn Bowls Club and offers a variety of fun activities. We have lawn games for children, lawn bowling for adults, a silent auction featuring a variety of options, a raffle drawing for several prizes including a week in Hawaii, and a wonderful BBQ dinner. The event is well publicized through our sale of raffle tickets, our collection of auction items, word of mouth from our 90+ members, our website, and social media.
