Each year the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company hosts an annual carnival. This is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for us where 100% of the proceeds go toward the purchase of vital firefighting and life-saving equipment. Our fire company is 100% volunteer which means over 75% of our funding comes from fundraisers and without the support of businesses giving donations, we could not make this event a profitable event. Since we are 100% volunteer we own and maintain all of our equipment, vehicles, and building. Did you know it costs nearly $15,000.00 to properly equip a firefighter in today's world? This includes turnout gear, radio, and self-contained breating apparatus. Our carnival features rides from one of the safest and cleanest midway providers in Pennsylvania, games, food, live music, fireworks, silent auction, BINGO, crafters, vendors, and special events. This year we are trying to get the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile to make an appearance at our event plus other specialty vehicles. The donations from donation match will be used for our silent auction that is run by our ladies auxiliary who also raise funds for the fire company and play another important role, they will bing us food and drinks to our long-duration emergency scenes so we can get rehydrated and more energy to continue to do our job.
