Description

ConnectMed believes all individuals affected by craniofacial differences, burns and disfiguring injuries deserve comprehensive medical care regardless of where they live or their financial means. We support full-service care for individuals with these conditions in underserved communities around the world through training of their local healthcare professionals as well as collaborative team care.

This full-service care includes consideration of psychological and emotional health, which is the impetus behind our 2nd annual Camp Cosmos, Southern California’s only therapeutic and recreational day camp for children with craniofacial differences and their families.  With support of organizations like the Children’s Craniofacial Association, Camp Cosmos’ goal is to provide a joyful, relaxing day for patients and their families in a setting that fosters self-esteem, bonding and community-building.  As most of the children will have several reconstructive surgeries throughout their lives, we also hope to build relationships and trust between our Camp participants and their treatment teams outside of the hospital setting that makes future and even past surgical intervention and hospital stays less traumatic.

ConnectMed offers the camp free of cost to all participants and Spanish language friendly, with therapeutic activities facilitated by licensed Children’s and Family Therapists.

Donations of gift cards and swag for gift bags going to the 50 families attending would be greatly appreciated!
