Description

Founded in 1922, Woodcraft Rangers has proudly served the youth of Los Angeles for five generations. From its beginnings at a time when the metro area itself was taking root, the organization has always shared an optimistic and progressive spirit with its mother city, being uniquely defined—for a century—for its intentional commitment to diversity, inclusion and access for all young Angelenos. Today, the agency serves 20,000 youth from low-income communities each year in afterschool, summer and outdoor education programs, and is highly revered for its high quality, culturally relevant and responsive programs, a result of decades of experience and deep community listening practices.

Woodcraft Rangers programs are anchored in a holistic educational framework that encompasses all areas of a young person’s development; body, mind, spirit, and service. With student interests at the center of our program design, Woodcraft Rangers offers opportunities for youth to explore and develop themselves through various pathways, including Sports, Arts & Media, STEM, Dual Language Enrichment, Health & Wellness, and Youth Leadership.

In 2018, our programs served 13,409 young people across the Los Angeles area including, 75 Title I schools in 4 districts. This long-standing delivery of service has enabled us to impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people over the years, ranging in age from 5 to 18 years. Our longevity is evidence that we have always been responsive to the changing needs of our communities and we continue to build and adapt around the current issues facing our youth.

The Campfire Affair celebrates 100 years of Woodcraft Rangers with the launch of its Trailblazer Awards given to notable individuals who, just like Woodcraft Rangers, were courageous enough to chart their own course and stay true to their own values. Awards will be given in all the Woodcraft Rangers pathways of STEM, Arts, Sports and Wellness, Outdoor Education, and Leadership. The 2023 Honoree of the Trailblazer Award for Arts will be actor, comedian, activist, and philanthropist, Anthony Anderson. Additional special guests and award recipients TBA.

Donations to the Wanderlust Silent Auction will be acknowledged by the donor names and/or logos showcased live at the event, on the event website, and on the auction interface. Your tax-deductible donation helps provide a magical summer camp experience for students in low-income households.
