CASA Bingo Night - Through the Eras
Other Event Type for CASA of Bell and Coryell CountiesDec 07, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
CASA of Bell and Coryell Counties serves children who have experiened abuse and neglect by providing a trained volunteer to be the voice for the child's right to safety in placement, permanence in family life, and a loving home. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors and is part of a nationwide volunteer movement. When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to serve as their "voice in court". The volunteers serve as the eyes and ears for the judge in child welfare cases. While providing quality advocacy, CASA volunteers are frequently the only stable presence in the child's life as they navigate the foster care system.
On December 7, from 6-9 pm, CASA of Bell and Coryell Counties will be hosting its largest annual fundraiser, Bingo Night - Through the Eras. This fundraiser will raise funding that will allow us to recruit and train additional volunteer advocates as well as paid staff supervisors who provide oversight and manage case loads in order to meet the demand in our community.
In 2023, there were 1,360 children in CPS/foster care in Bell and Coryell Counties, which translates to a need of approximately 900 trained advocate volunteers to represent these children in court, however, CASA had 130 advocates to serve these children.
