Description

The 12th Annual CASAblanca Gala on April 5th, 2024. This lovely evening of inspiration and entertainment attracts 250 guests from across the state. The festivities begin at 6 pm with a silent auction and wine pull. We will serve dinner with a cash bar. Our program begins at 7:30 pm and includes honoring State Senator Anna Wishart. We will end the evening dancing with the band On the Fritz.

Each year this event has raised funds to support our local CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) who are the voice of abused and neglected children in Nebraska.

CASA programs across the state recruit, screen, train, and support volunteers assigned by judges to speak for children in the court system. CASA volunteers work with children who have been abused or neglected by a caregiver and removed from their homes. They are in court through no fault of their own.

There are currently 22 CASA programs in the state that provide services in 55 counties.  The Nebraska CASA Board of Directors has the goal of providing a CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child in the court system.  In 2023, 834 volunteers served 1,937 abused and neglected children. In the last 13 years, there has been a 102% growth of volunteers and 67% growth in children served.

But there are still more than 1,300 children in the foster care system with no CASA volunteer to investigate their case, report to the judge, and provide the guidance of a caring adult to these children. Please help us make a difference in children’s lives.
