CCHAT Uncorked - Fill the Silence
Gala/Party for Children's Choice for Hearing and Talking Sacramento/ CCHATMar 09, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM
CCHAT’s annual gala, CCHAT Uncorked-Fill the Silence, is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our program and inspire giving that is vital to our sustainability. On March 9, 2024, more than 300 people will enjoy wine and beer tastings, food pairings, and a live and silent auction. In addition, the CCHAT Champion and Volunteer of the Year awards will be presented. CCHAT provides its services at no cost to families making it accessible to all who want to pursue the listening and spoken language (LSL) communication option. This year, CCHAT is challenged to fundraise $500,000 to continue providing our highly specialized services. The funds generated by this event will make a life-long impact on our students and their families.
CCHAT serves infants and children from the greater Sacramento region, inclusive of nine counties and approximately 20% of California. The cost savings for taxpayers when children with hearing loss attend a LSL program like CCHAT is tremendous. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has estimated that the lifetime economic cost to the public for a child with hearing loss who does not receive LSL services is over $400,000, mostly for special education aid (Honeycutt, A., Dunlap, L., Chen, H., al Homsi, G., Grosse, S., & Schendel, D., 2004). The ultimate intended impact of CCHAT’s services is that hearing loss will not be a roadblock to success in any avenue that each child chooses to pursue.
