On November 4, 2023, the Beekman Fire Company is hosting a Charity Bingo.  The goal is to raise money for E V Rocks Inc., a 501(c)3 charity created in 2020 when Edwin Vasquez was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer.   Edwin was a lifetime member of the Beekman Fire Company, Beekman Rescue Squad, and the Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary. 

There are a million things that happen in the days, weeks, and months after an initial diagnosis and it’s difficult to figure out how to move forward. On top of being scared and entirely overwhelmed, you’re faced with an influx of new information and the seemingly insurmountable burden of paying for care.

While most people expect medical bills to pile up from the start, there are numerous other care-related expenses which are necessary to keep the patient both safe and comfortable. For example, the patient may suddenly need a new wardrobe because their clothes no longer fit, the car may need increased maintenance to keep up with the countless trips to the doctors’ offices and treatment centers, or the house may need a ramp installed for wheelchair access when the patient can no longer walk. The list is endless and every day you’re faced with expenses you never thought you’d have to plan for.

EV Rocks mission is to provide aid to families facing a cancer diagnosis within our community. Through the help of our generous donors, we offer monetary donations, assist in obtaining clothing and medical supplies, and provide resources that will guide families throughout their journey.y
