Description

The Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach program announces its 27th Annual Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest for 2023! The contest is free and open to all Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades Kindergarten through 6th. Artwork should be based on the theme “Treasures of the Texas Coast” and should depict why the Texas coast is important or special to the student. The purpose of this contest is to encourage young artists to learn about natural resources along the Texas Coast.

The contest opens on January 1, 2023 and the postmark deadline for entries is March 1, 2023. Ten winners will be chosen in mid-April from each of four grade-level categories (K – 2nd, 3rd – 4th, 5th, and 6th) for a total of 40 winners. One grand prize winner will be chosen from among the 40 finalists. Winning artwork will appear together in a 2024 calendar, which will be distributed throughout the state.

We are seeking donated prizes for either the grand prize winner and/or their teacher, or for each of the 40 winners. The promotional flyer and entry form will be mailed to nearly 8,000 schools across Texas in December. All Art Contest sponsors will be listed on the flyer, along with their donated prize. Sponsors will also be listed in press releases in the final printed calendar, via Adopt-A-Beach's email list and through social media channels.

The Texas General Land Office is a government agency and donations to its programs are tax deductible under IRS code 170(c)1.
