Description
Children's Aid, Inc. will be holding our annual Bids for Kids online auction fundraiser from April 12 - May 1,2015. The auction will be accessible on the website, wwww.ChildrensAidAuction.com. Auction item donors will be recognized on our website, in our June Newsletter and on our FaceBook and Twitter pages.

Children's Aid, Inc., a 501(3)(c) nonprofit, provides assistance to economically disadvantaged children in Calvert County, Maryland. Through our programs, we strive to promote the importance of education and literacy. We also provide children with opportunities to play recreation level sports, which not only helps keep kids active, it also helps promotes self discipline, leadership, teamwork, cooperation, trust and respect.

Currently, we operate several programs. Operation Backpack provides economically disadvantaged children with a backpack filled with new school supplies and a new, age-appropriate book. In an effort to provide at-risk children with opportunities for physical activity, we provide Youth Sports Scholarships for a variety of activities, including football, soccer, basketball and baseball. The purpose of our Great Book Giveaway Program is twofold: to give books to children who otherwise might not have books (or many books) of their own and to educate parents on the importance of reading aloud to their young children.

In an effort to continue to reach an even broader audience, we are currently working with a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor on developing a series of podcasts and will cover topics such as How to Build Your Child’s Self Esteem, Cyber Safety, Coping Skills, Conflict Resolution, Healthy vs. Unhealthy Teen Relationships and How to Handle Peer Pressure, “Mean Girls” and Bullies. The podcasts will be available on our website to view or download free of charge.
