Clearwater All-American Soup Box Derby
Sporting Event for CM Box Car Racing dba Sunshine State SuperkidsMay 28, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Our programs consist of two special types of Soap Box Derby racing. All of our programs give back to the community by giving children a program that most families cannot afford or are not able to do programs like this for their children. All of our programs are free to the families.
The idea of the Soap Box Derby grew out of a photographic assignment of Dayton, Ohio, newsman Myron Scott. He came across a group of boys racing their homemade cars in the summer of 1933, and was so impressed with the event that he acquired a copyright to Soap Box Derby and went in search of a corporate sponsor to establish a national program.
Sunshine State Superkids is now part of the sanctioning for soap box derby: All-American Soap Box Derby. They gave us the rights to have a race event in Clearwater.
On May 28, 2022, All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron Ohio has authorized Sunshine State Superkids to hold a Local event on the west coast of Florida. This program will be for the underprivileged children. This will be a double elimination race, where children will be eliminated through rounds of racing. The cars are single seat cars. Stock cars are for the 7-14- year-old children and the Super Stocks are for the 10-16-year-old children. The cars will be all weighed and setup for the child prior to the event day and impounded until race day. The winner of each division will also have the opportunity to go to Akron Ohio for the International Soap Box Derby event in July. This event is a week of fun and racing for the children.
With our programs being Free, this includes breakfast, lunch and water for the day.
All the children will receive medals or trophies for the day. We are looking at least 24 children to be part of the event. We are looking for sponsorship to make this event very special to the children. We are also looking for donations to be able to purchase more cars for the underprivileged children to race.
This event will be a once a year event.
We cannot give a count of total reach, we do flyers to the schools and will try to get into the newspaper the week or 2 before the event.
