Description

Have you ever received a knock on the door by a detective informing you of the death of your child. A child you loved and cared for. A child who you did not know was struggling mentally. Each year, thousands of youth and children commit suicide. In 2021, this rate became alarming to the black and brown communities which had the highest number of suicides of people between the ages of 10-24 years of age.
Black Diamond Production produces various shows throughout Southern California, including Comedy for a Cause. Shows are produced in partnership with Gateway of Hope, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, which receives a portion of ticket sales after expenses. This show supports Gateway of Hope which was founded in 2013.
Gateway of Hope has been providing services to children, youth, families, and veterans in the state of California and Texas. Some of the programs offered by the organization include mental health services, housing, elderly care, and financial literacy. The organization provides college scholarships to high school seniors, (who suffer from a mental health disease or lost a loved one to suicide), STEM and leadership workshops for middle and high school students, provide a mentor to youth and parents, who were reunified with their children by Child Protective Services, and daily living assistance to the aged and disabled. The board members and employees find it joyful to give back to the communities in which they work and love.
It is the hope of the organization to shine a light on an issue not often spoken about in these communities and to be a beacon light to those struggling with suicidal ideations and mental illness, by providing outreach. Comedy is needed as it heals the heart and nothing brings us together like laughter.

By becoming a donor, you will have the opportunity to shine the light on mental health disease by providing the social platform needed to create dialogue.  Your support will allow students affected my mental helth and suicide ideations to attend college and work towards a meaingful life. Your donation will improve awareness and provide resources to those communities with limited resources. As a donor, You’re funding a lifeline for people on the edge!
