Community Outreach Trips
Other Event Type for Salem's Light, Inc.Jun 08, 2019 10:00 AM to Dec 28, 2019 3:00 PM
Salem’s Light conducts routine targeted community outreach initiatives - the main activity of our organization - in underserved neighborhoods in metro Richmond. After identifying a dog potentially in need of assistance, volunteers approach the dog’s owner and offer free supplies (food, collars, leashes, toys, sturdy dog houses), encourage and provide free spay and neuter, and recommend other efforts to improve the dog’s living conditions and care. These outreach trips will be conducted throughout the year, typically once per month.
In addition, we will partner with our local animal control agency and other organizations to provide free vaccine clinics to the same population. It is our hope to also be able to provide owners of dogs who are vaccinated at these clinics with basic supplies as needed.
We are most in need of the following types of donations: monetary donations to fund free spay/neuter surgeries at a local low-cost spay/neuter clinic and supply donations including dry dog food, treats, collars (medium and large), leashes, durable toys, and flea/tick medication (medium and large sized dogs).
The information regarding the attendance is based on estimates of the number of at-risk dogs (and their owners) that volunteers from our organization will interact with (either during outreach trips or vaccine clinics) between April and December 2019.
No specific address - varies for each outreach trip and/or vaccine clinic
