The Rotary Club of Placentia is an organization of Placentia business and professional leaders
dedicated to providing service to the community in keeping with our motto, “Service above
self”.

In the last thirteen years, our Cowabunga fundraising event has raised over $180,000 dollars, all
of which is invested into our local community. Some of our projects include: awarding countless
college scholarships to Placentia students in need, a Community Dental Clinic at Melrose
Elementary School, a Santa Claus Meet & Greet at the Annual Tamale Festival, working with
H.I.S. House Homeless Intervention Shelter to help the homeless, and our annual Corazon
House and Septic System Build. We also support the OC Food Access Harvest, the Rotary global
campaign to End Polio Now, sponsorship of the Miss Placentia program, and a leadership
training camp for Interact Clubs at our local high schools.

This year’s Cowabunga Community Cookout will be held on September 16th at Kraemer Park and
will feature a delicious bbq tri-tip and chicken dinner, local brews and wine, and live music. We
are soliciting in-kind donations, such as gift cards and merchandise, to include in our silent
auction, held during our event. Funds raised from the auction will benefit the benefactors
discussed above. All in-kind donations are greatly appreciated and will include recognition in
our event program.
