Description

Dear Community Member,

The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative arts programs as a medium to teach life, practical, fundamental, and positive mental health skills to the next generation of makers. Our organization teaches classes such as sewing, textile arts, cooking, ceramics, STEM, and other creative trades to students in our studios, libraries, schools, ABA therapy centers, the juvenile justice system as well as shelters that rescue unhoused youths and human trafficking survivors.

On April 27, 2024, our organization will be hosting our 9th annual gala/student fashion show “Creativity Rocks!” and the theme for the year is “Making the Band.” This event will showcase the art and creativity of 200+ K-12 students who are working hard creating looks inspired by famous bands and musicians! On the night of the show, each student will wear the clothing they made and will rock it down the runway in front of a crowd of 750+ cheering people in person and an additional 25000+ online!

From our history of working with youth trauma survivors, we believe that building confidence and self-esteem in our children is the best medicine towards boosting positive mental health. In 2024, we want to expand our programs into additional juvenile detention facilities across Houston. Within the facilities, underused spaces will be converted into sewing, pottery, hydroponic vegetable gardens, mobile cooking stations and art rooms. This Creativity Shell floor will offer a near full time schedule of creative classes that will teach children the practical skills of creating the arts plus fundamental life skills such as problem solving, decision making, coping, self-confidence, self-esteem, and positive mental health.

In addition to our work in juvenile facilities, funds raised from Creativity Rocks will also be used to build a Blackbox Theater in our Kingwood Studio! This space will be a one-of-a-kind media center where students will have the opportunity to learn, create, film, record and more! This space will also be available for public rentals.

Sponsors will be highlighted with thank you rewards including (but not limited to) tickets to the event, your company logo on the red-carpet backdrop, shout-outs at the event, social media, our organizations website and so much more!

Thank you for supporting the Creativity Shell and thank you for giving us the opportunity to find creative ways to educate and inspire the next generation of makers.
