Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center (MRSHC) is hosting our annual “Dancing, Dining and Ducks” event on August 17th, 2023 at 4pm virtually on Facebook. We will have 5,000 lucky duck chances of possibly winning one of several prizes available for the public to purchase. These rubber ducks will be dropped into a pool and 10 winners will be drawn randomly. The Grand Prize is $2,500! We would greatly appreciate a gift certificate from The Old Mill to include in our Pigeon Forge prize package.

MRSHC is a not-for-profit agency founded in 1974. The ability to communicate directly affects a person’s quality of life. It is our mission to provide the infants, children and adults of the Appalachian Region with the highest quality and cost effective evaluation, treatment and education for speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders. We provide these services regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.

MRSHC had over 19,000 patient encounters in 2022. We have given over $150,000 in scholarship dollars over the past 5 years to patients in the Appalachian Region who may not have been able to receive treatment otherwise. We would not be able to offer these scholarships without the generous support of our local business community. MRSHC also launched our new FEES (Flexible Endoscopy Evaluation of Swallowing) program for adults in January 2022! We’re excited to bring this needed service to our region, so that patients do not have to endure a hospital stay in order to have a swallowing evaluation performed.
