Description

Dear Friends of Mark Twain Elementary,

Did you know that Mark Twain has been a part of our local community for 75 years?  With the recent changes in Houston’s public school system, the funding our school receives from its sponsors and families preserves the school community and ensures that the children’s love of learning continues for many years to come.

We are excited to announce the 2025 Huckleberry Bash Auction Event, our school’s largest annual fundraiser.  This year we are excited to boogie down to celebrate Mark Twain’s 75th anniversary at our Diamond Disco Bash!  We expect to have over 400 attendees on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 come together for a groovy good time!  We are proudly inviting and honoring the educators, leaders, and supporters who have shaped Mark Twain’s rich history.

Mark Twain Elementary is located in Braes Heights, a wonderful and vibrant neighborhood community located just south of West University and near both the Texas Medical Center and Bellaire. It is part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and serves just over 900 children from kindergarten through fifth grade.

The annual Huckleberry Bash alone contributes more than 50% of the operating income for the PTO budget, supporting enrichment programs such as our International Baccalaureate (IB) World School program, Dual Language program, arts, science, technology.  The PTO budget:

Provides certified teacher as teaching assistants for each grade level, as well as substitutes for teachers to allow them to keep their bi-weekly IB planning time during school hours
Bridges the gap for students via school supplies, class t-shirts, and school event admission
Maintains the Spark Park, for school and community enjoyment
Organizes community events, including Spooky Spectacular, Tiger Trail, International Festival and Parade, and STEAM night

Join us in supporting and celebrating our children, educators, support staff, and community by contributing to the auction.  As you might imagine, donating is a fantastic way to reach new customers while also garnering great appreciation and loyalty from current Mark Twain patrons. We have some innovative ways to help do this and are available to speak with you about them at any time.

We realize that you receive numerous requests for sponsorships and donations; we greatly appreciate you taking the time to consider supporting Mark Twain Elementary School.

Thank you!

Mark Twain Elementary is a community of life-long learners, built upon a collaborative spirit that fosters inquiry-based learning. Our purpose is to promote and develop responsible, active, and reflective citizens of the world.
