Durham Jazz is seeking support for its annual fundraising dinner-concert, Dinner in the Key of Jazz. The fundraiser will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax.

Durham Jazz is a community youth music program that gives local students the opportunity to pursue their musical interests in a positive, challenging environment. Students from across the Durham region audition to join one of the Durham Jazz ensembles, where they develop their musical skills through rehearsals, workshops, and performances. The program is open to students from Grades 6-12 and caters for every level from beginners to pre-tertiary. The team of Durham Jazz Directors – current DDSB music teachers and senior tertiary music students – are supported by local music educators and professionals and backed by a dedicated team of parent volunteers.

Since its inception in 2009, Durham Jazz ensembles have performed to great acclaim at music festivals across Canada and the U.S. and at community events around Durham. Many graduates of the program have gone on to study music at a tertiary level.

It is the Directors’ policy that the opportunity to participate in the program should be available to all students, regardless of their financial situation. Proceeds from the Dinner in the Key of Jazz will go towards providing scholarships for students who might otherwise find participation in the program prohibitive. Our fundraising goal for this year’s dinner is $15,000.

By contributing services or goods for a silent auction at the fundraising dinner;
By donating to the Durham Jazz Scholarship Fund;
By purchasing advertising in the fundraising dinner souvenir program.
We would welcome support at any level. Please be assured that 100% of contributions goes directly to supporting deserving students. Durham Jazz is a registered charity, and we are happy to provide tax receipts for all donations.
