Description

The Discovery Museum Bids for Kids Online Auction supports the Museum’s Open Door Connections program, which provides opportunities for visitors with financial limitations or other barriers to access to experience the museum for free or deeply reduced cost. We served more than 51,000 people in 2019 (21% of our total) through this program, which was only possible because of the generosity of our community.

Our commitment to accessibility has never been stronger. The museum building and exhibits were created based on Universal Design Principles to be both aesthetically pleasing and useable by the widest possible range of people, without regard to age or ability. Exhibits are hands-on, low-tech, open-ended, and interactive, to encourage play, exploration, and experimentation.

Through our Open Door Connections program, we also provide dedicated, free services for under-served populations. This includes those with limited financial resources and families with children who have physical or intellectual disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorders, hearing loss, or vision impairment.

If you are interested in donating an item to the auction or can help connect us with a potential donor, please contact Lynn Protasowicki, Development Assistant, at lprotasowicki@discoveryacton.org or (978) 264-4200 x134.

Auction donors will be profiled in the online auction catalog, which will include a link to your business website if appropriate, and acknowledged in the Discovery Museum’s 2020 Annual Report. We market the auction to the more than 30,000 individuals on the museum’s email list and through Facebook and Twitter, as well as 400,000+ bidders on BiddingForGood.com. It is our goal to thank auction donors by providing as much brand exposure as possible!

We hope you will check out the Bid for Kids Auction May 4-13!

Discovery Museum is a 501(c) 3 organization. Our EIN is 04-2741645.
