On Saturday, June 14, 2025, East Side Community School will be holding our Annual East Side Spring Gala & Auction. This is a great event for a great cause with good food, good drinks, and over 200 good people. This year’s event will be held at our School located on 420 East 12th Street (between Ave A and 1st Ave).  The funds raised at the auction will help support enrichment programs at our school.

East Side is a diverse 6th-12th grade public school serving students in the Lower East Side and East Village with talented and dedicated teachers who care about the academic success of our children. East Side, a model of quality education and a great asset to the community, performing well above the city average in graduation rates, academic success, and post-secondary college placement and performance.  We are a Title I School (over two-thirds of our students receive free lunch) that sends 90% of our students to college each year.  In addition to strong academics, one of the main reasons our students find success is that we are able to provide them with incredible enrichment, after-school and extracurricular activities that most suburban and private schools and their students take for granted - and most city schools are unable to provide. The funds raised at the auction will help support these programs.

Last year’s gala allowed us to continue Week Without Walls as an annual opportunity for our students.  During Week Without Walls the school schedule stops while all students participate in a special experiential (4-day minimum) learning experience.  The purpose of Week Without Walls is to provide students with the opportunity to learn and be exposed to something new that is outside of the regular curriculum and/or to have the opportunity to concentrate heavily on something the student is very interested in or passionate about. Students are able to choose from over 25 options led by teachers and staff members who will share their passions and talents with the students. Many of the activities take place outside of the building. And some are overnight trips outside of the City, State and Country such as Canada, Dominican Republic, Belize, California, Mexico and Chicago.

In addition, through our East Side Spring Gala & Auction, we have maintained many necessary extra-curricular programs that are no longer offered in many NYC Public Schools due to budget cuts. Some of the programs that have received funding from our gala are the Environmental Club, Cycling Program, Photography Club, Visual Arts program, family overnight college trips, student college trips, grade trips, sports programs (i.e. crew, soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, yoga), East Side Rock Band and many more.

To help us achieve our goals and offer all of these opportunities next year, there are two ways you can consider supporting East Side, while at the same time promoting your business:

1.      Donate your merchandise or service to the East Side Spring Gala & Auction:  We would greatly appreciate your donation of merchandise (or a gift certificate for services or merchandise) to be a part of our auction.  A donation form is attached for your convenience.

2.      Become a gala Sponsor:  Another way to support East Side is by becoming an official East Side Spring Gala & Auction sponsor.  You will have your business logo published in the event program and, depending on the level you choose, be mentioned during the event.  It is a great way to publicize your company business and earn the appreciation of our loyal and supportive community.

With your help, we know the annual gala and auction will be a great success, and we are looking forward to a great evening.  East side is a 501(c) (3) charity.  Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
