McClure-Rabb Idlewild Foundation is a 501c3 non profit agency that promotes the identification, preservation, and protection of the historic route of Idlewild MI. We strive to continue development, bring activities & events that inspire and continue legacy for underserved youth. Our vision is to continue summer activities yearly for youth 5 yrs of age to 18 years of age. We will bring education empowerment, water safety,swimming, fishing and college fair/trade opportunities for educational prosperity in community and youth visiting. 

Fishing and Swimming 

  • Promote physical health, build confidence, and teach valuable life skills such as patience and perseverance.

Water Activities 

  • Designed to enhance teamwork and communication. The activities foster a sence of community and belonging 

College Fair 

  • Provides exposure to higher education opportunities, encouraging aspirations and prociding resources for higher education


Idlewild was founded in 1912, A rural retreat for African Americans during the Jim Crow era. it was one of the few areas in the world where people of color could relax, entertain, and have no fear of racism/segregation. The history is phenomenal and includes many historical legends of the past. 


McClure-Rabb Idlewild Foundation believes youth are our future, “if they cant see it they can't achieve it”. The 2nd Annual Education in the Wild, brings youth to a paradise on Williams Island in Idlewild MI. A beautiful beach that many youth have never experienced or seen. It allows education in nature, learning to fish, free food and snacks, swimming in the beautiful clear waters, meeting new friends, fun activities, boating, horseback riding, face painting and college fair. We expect #400 youth to attend from 5yrs of age to 18 years of age, June12th, 2025 from 12:30pm to 5pm. 


Your donation helps towards our success for our youth. To make your contribution more visible we are pleased to recognize your company on banners and or flyers highlighting your positive business practices and donation to this continued empowerment cause. We are in need of water inflatables, water guns, hula hoops, frisbees, life jackets, water activities.
