Description

This November, Epilepsy Awareness Month, EFCT will be hosting our Annual Gala to raise awareness of epilepsy and funds for the programs and services we provide to the epilepsy community in Connecticut. We are currently in search of donated items or services for our silent auction. We would be so appreciative if you would donate an auction item in support of our cause.

The Gala will take place on Saturday, November 11th, 2023, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT and have a chocolate theme. At the event, we will be entertained by comedian Howie Mason, participate in a silent auction & fund-a-need auction, and hear about EFCT’s Young Adult Support Group Leader Paige DiTommaso’s personal epilepsy journey. Attendees will enjoy chocolate desserts from Christopher’s Bakery & local Connecticut shops, learn about the incredible work EFCT is doing, and connect with people affected by epilepsy. This night of dinner, dancing, and chocolate will raise critical funds for EFCT that will go towards providing the local epilepsy community and their families with the latest information on research and emerging therapies, vital educational resources, recreational opportunities, unwavering advocacy, and invaluable support as we pursue the dream of a cure.

Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder in the United States after Alzheimer’s disease and stroke.  It is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease combined.  Yet, of major chronic conditions, it is among the least understood, even though one in three adults knows someone with the disorder. EFCT is the leading source of education, advocacy, support, information, and recreation for an estimated 36,000 people in Connecticut who have epilepsy. With the funds raised at the Gala, we can continue providing support groups, mental health programs, memory & cognition programs, financial assistance programs, a summer camp for kids with epilepsy, seizure first aid trainings, advocacy, and more!
