Clean water is important to everyone!  Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper has lead the charge to keep our WNY waterways clean for our community for the last 35 years.  Back then the community wanted more for itself than a dead waterfront that had been strangled by legacy toxins from another time.  Through community partnership and perserverance, Friends of the Buffalo River, now Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, was formed to lead the charge to bring local, state, and federal partners to the table and solicit hundreds of millions in funding to restore the river and bring the City of Buffalo back to life.  Today Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper puts effort into the entire Niagara watershed.

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper will "open" our waterways for the season with Waterkeeper Weekend.  This year, on our 35th anniversary, we are celebrating with an entire Waterkeeper Week, May 15-22, anchored by our Emerald Evening on May 21st.  We are asking our friends and neighbors to donate or sponsor this event, and to help support the important work of keeping our water healthy for our families and community.
